Regional and remote festivals across Australia will benefit from fresh funding for projects celebrating music, dance, theatre, literature and visual arts.
The Albanese Labor Government is investing over $700,000 amongst 19 projects through its $1.4 million Festivals Australia program.
This funding is providing regional and remote communities access to diverse, engaging and innovative experiences that encourage participation in the arts. It supports partnerships and encourages collaboration across the arts sector to benefit local communities.
It also delivers a key focus of Revive, Australia’s National Cultural Policy, by supporting festivals that connect communities and promote local talent.
The Swan Hill Harmony Day Committee has received $21,566 to support Swan Hill Community Harmony Day.
Minister for the Arts, Tony Burke, said the program is supporting community cultural events to tell Australian stories.
“I love festivals. I attend them all around the country and have for many years."
“Right now, they’re going through real challenges and need our support, that’s why the Albanese Labor Government is proud to deliver this next round of funding.”
Senator Jana Stewart said the program will have a major impact in the community.
“Swan Hill is such a vibrant and welcoming community. It’s where I grew up."
“I’m so proud to see Swan Hill Community Harmony Day being recognised by the Albanese Labor Government.”
The program delivers two funding rounds each year.
The Festivals Australia program selection criteria assess projects on quality, access, support and partnerships, and value for money.
